Making its debut in September of 2015, Niantic’s Pokémon GO became a global sensation practically overnight. Within the first week, the free-to-play app had not only become the most downloaded game ever, but reports showed that users played Pokémon GO more than they checked their Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, and even Tinder. Although the app suffered from several drawbacks like server problems, elementary gameplay, and inaccurate radars, Niantic was able to surpass 100 million downloads and a daily revenue stream of $10 million. While Niantic is still updating Pokémon GO, rumor has it that the software development company has secretly been working on an entirely new game focused around the Magical Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
